The following local initiatives have been developed for Hillsdale County business and industry.

  • S.A.G.E. (Senior Advisory Group for Entrepreneurs)

    This group of local successful and experienced business owners, retailers and manufacturers volunteer their time to provide consultation services to Hillsdale County businesses. They are willing and able to assist with a variety of topics including human resources, budgets, pricing, expansion, lean manufacturing and plan development.   • MI-SBTDC Biz Resource Center

    Located in the SCMW! Service Center and just steps from the EDP offices, this center provides information for current and prospective small business owners. Resources include computer technology, books and publications, and information on starting any type of business in Michigan.

Local Initiatives

  • The city of Hillsdale offers TIFA, Neighborhood Enterprise Zone, and a Downtown Facade Improvement grant program. For more information please contact Christine Bowman, Economic Development Director for the City of Hillsdale.

  • The Village of Jonesville offers a Downtown Development Association and a Local Development Finance Authority. Please contact the Village Manager, Adam Smith for more information.

  • The City of Litchfield offers a Downtown Development Authority and a Tax Increment Finance Authority to promote growth in their community. For more information please contact the Litchfield City Manager, Doug Terry.

  • The City of Reading offers a very progressive TIFA and facade improvement program. For more information please contact Kim Blythe, Reading City Manager.
